Customers come to us in various stages of design. Some customers know exactly what they want and have floor plans, magazine pictures and color swatches. Other customers come to us with scribbled notes and an idea in their head. Our design process will draw out the customer’s wants and needs and bring to life the finished product desired.
The start of our process is to understand your space. If you have pictures, drawings, floor plans, sketches…these all help us get started, so please bring them to your first meeting. A beginning budget helps us focus on what features will be most important and will help us concentrate on showing you items that will work with your budget.
When we start with your space (with a floor plan or general measures) you will note key features you wish to achieve (i.e., storage, double ovens, lazy susans, pull-out pantries, etc). We will ask you to review door styles, box construction, drawer construction, drawer glides, hinges and a few more items. You do not have to be a cabinet expert, we will ask you all the questions and explain your options.
Once we have a general idea of these items we will either do a hand sketch or a 3-d drawing of your space/furniture piece. When we meet the next time we can review the drawing and pricing. If your design includes a kitchen we can completely set up our mobile kitchen so you can stand in your space and get an exact feel for your new design. At this meeting your can keep your 3-D drawings for a drawing deposit fee of $250, which will be applied to future purchases. There is no fee if you decide not to take the drawings.
Once your cabinets/furniture pieces are completely designed a professional engineer will measure your space. You will be expected to “sign-off” on the design prior to this measurement and we will require half down to begin the ordering process. Production typically takes anywhere from 2-6 weeks from final sign off depending on the project. A member of our delivery team will call to confirm delivery (and installation if you are having Woodways install).
