Design Trend: Creative Attic Renovations

Looking for extra space without the hassle of adding on to your home? Why not use space that already exists… like your attic?!

Renovating an attic is the perfect spot to “add” extra space to your home because it already exists and can easily be transformed into the perfect bedroom suite for company, dream closet, a cozy hang out, practical office, unique kitchenette or an awesome playroom for rambunctious kids.

Converting an attic into a desirable space might take a little elbow grease and force you to go through all the high school photos you’ve been hiding, but it’s a good investment in the long run. According to Remodeling Magazine a finished attic that includes a small bathroom retains 77% of its value. Because attics generally have strange sloped ceilings and walls custom built-ins are probably your best bet for storing, or hiding, those high school photos and other memorabilia you don’t want to showcase. There are some really cool and good looking options out there like built in cabinets and book shelves that go all the way to the ceiling becoming more narrow as the walls reach the peek. Or consider cabinets that run the length of the room topped with plush cushions for lounging.

Below are some more pictures of renovated attics that inspired us! If you are looking to turn your attic into a more useful place than dark dusty storage please feel free to stop by our Design Center
